Lance Berkman
Lance was a first baseman and outfielder for Austin Slam Baseball. A favorite memory of Lance playing Slam was that while sitting on the bench during a game, he ran out of the dugout and caught a foul ball in front of his back-up first baseman. He said that he just "reacted". Lance was full of energy as a teen and a great pleasure to be around.

He played college ball at Rice University before being drafted by the Houston Astros in the 1st round of the 1997 draft. Lance made his MLB debut in 1999 with the Astros and has had a great career at Houston. He has received many awards through the Astros and Major League Baseball.

Ryan Langerhans
Ryan played outfield for Austin Slam Baseball for several years. He was very competitive on the field with a quiet determination. He would run out anything that he hit with a desire to beat out any throw.

Ryan attended Round Rock High School where his father, John Langerhans was his high school baseball coach. He was drafted out of high school in the 3rd round in 1998 draft by the Atlanta Braves. Ryan has played for Atlanta, Oakland and the Washington Nationals.

Matt Belisle
Matt played for Austin Slam Baseball since he was 13 years old. He was a pitcher and outfielder for Austin Slam. He graduated from McCallum High School in 1998 and was the 2nd round pick for the Atlanta Braves in 1998.

Tommy Boggs worked with him teaching pitching techniques since he was a very young boy. Matt has always had an incredible work ethic and it has paid off with his pitching at the Major League level.

Matt is currently with the Cincinnati Reds.

Randy Choate
Randy was a pitcher for Austin Slam Baseball. He went to high school in San Antonio and was with a group of boys who traveled from San Antonio to play Slam Baseball. He was a very hard-to-hit lefty pitcher.

Randy attended Florida State University. He was drafted in the 5th round of the 1997 draft by the New York Yankees. He made his Major League debut in 2000 with the Yankees. He has pitched for Arizona since 2004.

Stephen Randolph
Stephen was a left-handed pitcher for Austin Slam. He was a tall force on the mound versus high school players.

Stephen pitched for the University of Texas. He was drafted by the New York Yankees in the 18th round of the 1995 draft.

Stephen made his major-league debut for Arizona in 2003 in relief against the Dodgers. He is currently with the Houston Astros.

Mario Ramos
Mario played Austin Slam for several years. He was a left-handed pitcher who was very tough to hit! He was a calm, quiet pitcher who did his job and then prepared for the next game.

He graduated from Pflugerville High School. He was drafted in 1999 in the 6th round by the Oakland Athletics. Mario also pitched for the Texas Rangers.

Scott Ruffcorn
Scott Ruffcorn was a pitcher for Austin Slam. One of our memories of Scott, besides being a dominant pitcher, was that he always brought bags of Hershey bars his mom sent for the team to every tourney. Scott always had a smile on his face.

Scott grew up in Austin and went to high school at Austin High where he was a standout baseball player. He was drafted out of Baylor University in the 1st round by the Chicago White Sox in 1991. He pitched in the Major Leagues with the Phillies.

Robbie Beckett
Robbie was a left-handed pitcher for Austin Slam Baseball. There are many stories that we could tell regarding Robbie, but one of our favorites was when he was 16 years old and pitching against Todd VanPoppel in a tournament in Wichita Falls. There were many scouts in the stands and both pitchers were just blowing 90+ mph pitches past the batters. The stands were a buzz that day!

Robbie grew up in Austin and attended McCallum High School. He was drafted out of high school in the 1st round by the San Diego Padres in 1990. He pitched in the Majors with the Colorado Rockies.

Nathan Minchey
Nathan was extremely tall on the mound. He was a forceful pitcher for Austin Slam Baseball.

He was drafted in the 2nd round by the Montreal Expos in the 1987 draft. He made his Major League debut in 1993. Nathan was a part of the following organizations: Montreal, Atlanta, Boston, St. Louis and Colorado.

Chris Clemons
Chris grew up in Baytown, Texas. He was a right-handed pitcher for Austin Slam. Chris was a great asset to the organization especially during tournaments.

He attended Texas A&M University. He was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 1st round of the 1994 draft. Chris made his Major League debut in 1997 for the White Sox.

J.D. Smart
J.D. Smart played many years with Austin Slam. He was a right-handed pitcher and shortstop for Slam and extremely competitive. During a tournament in Lake Tahoe he once had an opposing player slide into second and "take him out". An all-time most interesting Slam moment occurred after that incident.

J.D. pitched for the University of Texas. He was drafted in the 4th round of the 1995 draft by the Montreal Expos. He pitched for Montreal and the Texas Rangers.

Brent Clevlen
Brent was a pitcher and outfielder for Austin Slam. His talent was always years ahead of his age group. Brent was very quiet but a force to be reckoned with on the playing field. Brent didn't just hit home runs. . .he hit absolute bombs! He was also an outstanding pitcher in high school. Brent was very reliable and a great team player.

Brent grew up in Austin and attended Westwood High School. He was drafted out of high school by Detroit in the 2nd round of the 2002 draft and is currently with their organization. He made his big league debut at center field for the Tigers.
